Fender Twin Reverb

The Fender Twin reverb has been around for a long time and has gone through many changes over the years. The original 1950s version is very different to the later models both in looks and the electronic circuitry. Its power has also changed from the original 25W to the more modern versions of 105 - 135W depending on the model.

They were teamed up with the Fender Stratocaster and the clean sound produced by the amplifier using the strat is still sought after. As with most valve amplifiers the wiring was always the point to point type. These days however, you are more likely to come across circuit boards in them. The speaker configuration is based on 2 X 12 combo design. These amps have also been produced in just the top amp form, however, you are more likely to come across the combo version.
The Amplifier is renowned for its quality reverb coupled with super clean sound. They were redesigned by Paul Rivera and provided with master volume technology similar to that used in Mesa Boogie amps. They were then called the Twin Reverb II
It was first introduced with a black face and was rated at 85W. It uses four 6L6 valves to deliver the power. The silver face panel was introduced in 1968 and the power was uprated to 100W and then eventually to 135W, Previous versions of the Twin Reverb have been resissued including the 65 reissue. This has blackface appearance and is based on the original circuitry although printed circuit boards are used instead of point to point wiring. The 65 provides 85W of power and has continued to be a popular product.
