Valve amps provide the ultimate guitar sound experience. It is no wonder that they are so popular these days. There have been attempts to try and use computer technology to reproduce the sound and companies like line 6 have done a reasonable job. The sound is there but there is no way that they have the same depth and power as a real valve amp. There always seems to be a limiter on the sound level. Valves just break through this and then the sky is the only limit! So if you want that authentic warm guitar sound you have to use valves. On this site you can find reviews on vintage and modern valve amplifiers and you may also be able to pick up a real bargain as well.

Marshall Major

Here we have the Marshall Major. This is getting to be a reall rarity as they stopped producing them in 1974. In all there were about 1200 produced. It is a real beast providing 200 Watts of power from the 4 KT88 output valves. It was first introduced in 1967 and called the Marshall 200 in reference to its output power. It was latter renamed the Major although some musicians had their own nick name for it and referred to it as the 'Pig'.

A number of guitarists such as Mick Ronson and Pete Townsend swore by this amp so just take a look at the guts of this beast and then have a listen to the demo.
